Sea2Sea Day 8 - Challenge Complete

Day 8 marked a remarkable finale as Iain completed the Sea2Sea Challenge, swimming from Dochgarroch to the Clachnaharry Sea Lock before entering the North Sea - a 60-mile journey from Corpach to Inverness.

This achievement is a world-first, with Scottish Canals granting special permission for Iain to swim the full length of the Caledonian Canal and its lock systems. It’s all the more extraordinary given Iain openly admits swimming has always been his weakest discipline in triathlon. His nickname ‘Sinky’ says it all.

This challenge has been deeply personal for Iain, inspired by the loss of two much-loved friends in 2024 - Jenny Hastings, wife of his teammate and friend Scott Hastings, and his close friend Colin Maguire. Their memory has been at the heart of his purpose and determination throughout.

As Iain approached the finish line, a crowd of family, friends, and onlookers gathered to witness history being made. In a fitting moment, his brother piped him to shore on the bagpipes as he completed the final strokes.

Iain has expressed his heartfelt thanks to his dedicated support team, who have been with him since day one, and to the partners who have backed the challenge throughout.

Fundraising has now surpassed £50,000, with donations still open in support of Crohn’s & Colitis UK, the British Heart Foundation, and Mikeysline. Contributions can be made via the JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/team/sea2sea.
